Thumbs up How To Reconfigure your router for BitComet Yellow To Green Light

BitComet Yellow To Green Light Guide

A lot of people keep asking how to turn the yellow light green...

Someone ask me what the yellow light is and here it is...

Did you see the yellow light there? Blocked:

You might want to try restarting your router and check the port again
by pointing your mouse and right click on the yellow light and select
'Check again' a couple of times first to try it out...
if that doesn't work then read on...

Well... here's a step by step guide that maybe can help you turn that
yellow light if you do it right... This guide is for BitComet v0.98
(it might work with all versions) and Windows XP...
If you got something other than XP then you figure this out yourself...

First of all... get the new version of BitComet v1.05

After finished installing BitComet open the Options Menu...

And then set your 'Listen Port' above '40000'...
For this guide I'll use '60000' and you can use that port too
if you like... Moving on...

### ### ###

(This has nothing to do with the green light status but it's for your
optimal upload/download max speed)

Set your 'Global Max Upload Rate' (depends on your line speed)
The higher the better but not too high...
For this guide I'll set it to '36' 'kB/s' because I got a 512 'kb/s'
upload line speed...

Usually if you got a 512 'kb/s' upload speed you need to divide it to 8
and then set it to 80% of your calculated speed in there but the
easiest way to do it is to divide it by 10 and you got your optimal
speed in 'kB/s' So if my upload speed is 512 'kb/s' then devide it by 10
then I got 51 'kB/s' right... Now you ask me why I put 36 'kB/s' here
right? This is why...You can test your upload speed [Only registered users can see links. ]... Make sure
you close all open applications that use internet connectivity before
you run the Speed Test to get an accurate line speed...
When I tested my line speed there I got 360+ 'kb/s' so I divide it by 10
then I got it 36 'kB/s' Did you notice the 'kb/s' and 'kB/s' it's the
letter 'b' and 'B' so... 'b' means 'bit' and 'B' means 'Byte'...
see the different? the Speed Test use 'bit' and BitComet use 'Byte'...

### ### ###

Moving on now...

Now... if you installed eMule plugins then you have to set your
'Listen Port' here also above '40000' and I'll use '60006' for this guide...
If you don't have the eMule plugins installed then you can skip this
or you can get the eMule plugins [Only registered users can see links. ]... (recommended)

After that... get going...

Follow and set with the above options... I'm so lazy to key in all the
options name here... That's it for the BitComet configurations...
After this you have to set your router settings... Coming up next...

EDITED: Removed the TCP/IP Limit Guide...

*** START UPDATE ***

If you wish to read the OLD and UNEDITED guide with the TCP/IP Limit Guide in it... [Only registered users can see links. ]...

*** END UPDATE ***

Now... moving on to the router settings... Make sure you close
your BitComet before you do this... For this guide I'll use the router
type 'Billion-[Only registered users can see links. ]' (if you're using the same thing then you got lucky)
If not you can find your router type and set it [Only registered users can see links. ] depends on your
router type... Select your router type and follow the link...
then choose 'BitComet' in the page link there and follow the instructions
for your router settings...

*** START UPDATE ***

I have to edit and enlarged this section because a lot of people didn't understand this part and keep asking it over and over again...

For the other type of router model please [Only registered users can see links. ] and choose your exact type of router model and follow the instructions there... at [Only registered users can see links. ]

After you've selected your router model at the above link... select the link for BitComet... and you'll get your router configurations page there...

*** END UPDATE ***

For the 'Billion-Bipac-5112S' router follow this step...
Open up your web browser and enter your router IP Address in the
Address box... If you don't know your IP then open a 'DOS/Command Prompt'
if you don't know what a 'DOS/Command prompt' is then you don't have
to set anything just close this and burn your PC...

n your 'DOS/Command prompt' key in 'ipconfig' and you'll get something
like this...

Can you see your IP Address now? '192.168.1.3' that's it...
Default Gateway... that's your router address...
For this guide it is '192.168.1.1' maybe you got another IP... (memorized it)

Now open up your web browser and enter your router IP Address in
the Address box... Enter your username... usually 'admin' then your
password... usually 'password' (default forBillion-Bipac-5112S)
Or you can click this link [Only registered users can see links. ] if your router IP is
'192.168.1.254' (the default IP for 'Billion-[Only registered users can see links. ]')

You'll get this Panel here below...

You'll find this in the 'Advanced Setup' - 'NAT' tab... See the
'NAT Status : Activated' ? If not then you need to activate it first...
Here's how to activate it...

In the 'Interface Setup' select the 'Internet' tab...
See the highlighted green NAT?
Enable that and click 'SAVE' ... After that back to the
'Advanced Setup' and select the 'NAT' tab...
See the 'NAT Status : Activated' ?
Now select the 'Virtual Server' can you see it?

Then you'll get this thing here...

So... can you figure it out yet... If you can't then you got to go and take
a bath and cool yourself first then read this guide again...

1. Select 'Rule Index' - '1'
2. In the 'Application' you can put anything you want and select 'PPTP'
3. Set the Start/End Port (you know what to do)
4. In 'Local IP Address' put in your IP (did I tell you to memorized it earlier?)
5. Click the 'Save' button at the bottom page... Done...

If you got the eMule plugins then set it here too...

1. Select 'Rule Index' - '2'
2. In the 'Application' you can put anything you want and select 'PPTP'
3. Set the Start/End Port (you know what to do)
4. In 'Local IP Address' put in your IP (did I tell you to memorized it earlier?)
5. Click the 'Save' button at the bottom page... Done...

Now you have to RESTART YOUR ROUTER to make the settings works...
If you don't know how to restart your router then just switch power OFF
then ON again... Then login to your router again and see that all the
settings that you've just configured earlier is there... If it's there...
Then you're all done... But if the settings isn't there then you have
to configure it again and make sure it's saved and the settings won't
dissapear the next time your router restart...
After that check in your BitComet and see if you got a remote connections...
If you got it then your router has been configured correctly and your
port has been forwarded succesfully...

And if you installed the eMule plugins...
Depends on the torrent that you're downloading...
Some torrent doesn't support the eMule plugins...
If the torrent that you're downloading support the eMule plugins...
Then you'll see this thing here...

Last thing to do... Open your BitComet... If it doesn't get the GREEN light
that you've been dreaming about then open your windows firewall and
check the settings...
Start -> Control Panel -> Windows Firewall... See below...

If you didn't get something like that then just DISABLE your firewall and
you're done... And you can stop dreaming now because you got your
GREEN light now...

ATTENTIONS!!! PeerGuardian's users...

If you use PeerGuardian and got a lot of block lists...
Recently BitComet IP Server has been added in the lists...
Check your PeerGuardian if it's blocking the name 'ip-us.bitcomet.org'
If it does then you'll have to allow it or you'll get a GREY light (unknown)
Open your PeerGuardian...

Click the 'List Manager' then you'll see this or maybe more...

If you didn't have a 'lists\permallow.p2b' Permanent Allows...
Then you have to create it... Click 'Create List' to create one...

*** UPDATE ***

Or the easiest way to create the 'lists\permallow.p2b' file...
Right click on any of the IP that's displayed...
Example IP: 123.123.123.123
And select "Allow 123.123.123.123 permanently"
It will create the file 'lists\permallow.p2b' for you...
After that open the list and remove the IP 123.123.123.123

*** UPDATE ***

If you got it then select/highlight it and click 'Open List' and you'll see this...

Now click 'Add' and put in the settings above then 'Save'...
And you're done...

If you didn't have it and would like to have it... here it is...
PeerGuardian 2.0
[Only registered users can see links. ]

*** START UPDATE ***

You don't have to use PeerGuardian to get your green light... This is an optional guide for PeerGuardian users...

*** END UPDATE ***

Someone ask me what the green light is and here it is...

Did you see the green light there? WAN:

And this is my average speed when I'm GREEN...

My MAX limit that my ISP provide is is about 1536 kb/s (that's about 150
kB/s more or less) and I MAX it out as you can see... Sometimes I got
over 300 kB/s and once I got about 1000 kB/s just once... and it last
for about 3 minutes or so then it got to the average speed again...
(don't know when that's going to happened again)

*** IMPORTANT UPDATE ***

If you're using your 3G mobile phone as a modem or any other kind
of connections that used a mobile phone to connect to the internet
then you don't have to do all of this things said above...
IT WON'T WORK!!! Buy a real (DSL) router/modem...
